Right now I am in the Central time zone. I used to live in a very interesting place though. I lived in Ripley county in Indiana which was also in the Central zone but did not observe daylight savings time. Ripley was bordered by Dearborn county which did observe Daylight savings time and Hamilton county, Ohio, which was in the Eastern time zone. It made life very confusing. Half the year our time was the same as Ohio which is where we had to go for malls, and any large retail stores; half the time we were an hour different. Then when DST kicked in our friends 1/2 mile away in Dearborn county were an hour faster. Locals tried to clear the confusion by using the terms "fast time" and "slow time." Thus, 1:00 slow time meant 1:00 according to the folks in Ripley: 1:00 fast time was Dearborn and Ohio people. Confused? So was I!
