I am purchasing a new laptop and wonder if I should go "wireless" or try something like verizon dsl. I don't have cable and still want to use my phone. dial up is way too slow and I can't open anything on the 10 year old computer I have now. What do I need in my new laptop and because there's two cafe's by my work place I was thinking of wireless. How does that work and what do I need to add to the laptop I am purchasing.

To find out if you have wireless, go to Control Panel and click on Network Connections. In Network Connections you will see one or more icons. If you have wireless, one of the icons should be titled 'Wireless Network Connection".

You know you can always call where you bought it (provided it wasn't off the back of a truck store) and they should be able to tell you.

You could go to one of the cafes and ask them to set you up. They want your business and should be glad to help set you up. If no wireless capability, maybe they have wired capability.

Also there should be an instruction manual with the pc. "When all else fails read the instructions."

Good Luck,

when u buy the laptop ask if there is a wireless card installed if not asked for it to be installed. what happens after that is where ever there is a wireless access your computer would alert you and then it would be up to you to connect via that connection or you could just get an ethernet cable and plug in through a telephone jack and back into the laptop.
No stress it's easy.

you should see a small cartridge slot usually to the left of your c.d. drive but it can be located in another area of your lap top. wireless internet has the same similarities as your cell phone. almost all the lap tops that are on the market today include the wireless connection. 2wire is the popular wireless provider.

You need to buy WLAN USB for you to have a wireless connection.

When you have it install the accompanied driver on CD and you're WIFI ready! Go to your nearest 'hotspots' and open your laptop and insert your WLAN USB. In a couple of minutes you wil be connected...
