I would recommend a good quality paper filter and housing.. There is no better air cleaner on the market. I have seen many K&N filters allow dust into the intake system. I know there are those that believe they are the best on the market but results dont lie. If you think that I challenge you to do this. Take the filter out and hold it up toward the light. If you see light through the filter you can be sure that any dirt particles smaller than that hole will pass right through the filter. Hold up a paper filter and then compare your findings. I guarentee you will find the paper filter has better filtering properties. I have done this many times and I have never found a K&N that would not allow dirt through. Any contaminates into the air stream the result is increased top end wear. You said it cheep and in my experience and in this case cheep is best.

Go with Can do it man, K&N is total Krap! Oiled filters do nothing but contaminate intake tubing, and sensors with oil. The only way to allow more air is with a bigger hole. Get it. Oil bath filters were not put in vehicles after the 60s because....they let in too much dirt. A paper filter will stop the most trash from getting into your engine and it will be the cheapest option. A good purolator filter from the parts store will run you less than 10 bucks.

Junkyard air cleaner with a good paper filter will trap the most dirt for you. K&N filters flow well, but I've heard lots of stories about them not doing such a good job at stopping dirt compared to good old fashioned paper. Wix is a pretty good brand from what I've heard.
