asking "WWJD" only takes away personal respoinsiblity to you're own actions when in reality, you should ask yourself, What would you do?

I agree, people need to face up to their responsibilities and the results of their actions.
No more asking some deity to intervene for their lazy butts......get out there and do it yourself! It is not in gods hands it is in yours and just dropping the ball and claiming that it is up to someone else gets you fired in most situations.

Because it thought up by some innovative Christian ministry or group and was then merchandized to the American people and was hip for about two years. It has stuck for quite a bit of time and society has gone so far into the toilet that WWJD is a direction for people on how to act, a moral leader of sorts.

And isn't WWYD kind of redundant? I can't stand WWJD either though.

Well, just look at programs like AA and NA that use twelve steps based on turning yourself over to a higher power rather than focusing on empowering the individual to feel confident enough and courageous enough to control their own lives. Personal responsibility is difficult, especially when you are behaving in a way that is seen as unacceptable. It is easier to say WWJD because if you don't do that, you can say to yourself "Well, I tried but I am only human" rather than accepting that you can improve yourself with the goal of achieving some internal moral standard (hopefully based on some good reality) rather than achieving some perfect moral standard of a Deity that is frankly impossible. I wish more people would ask themselves what they can do and have the courage to do it. Perhaps then we would have a better world.

People ask WWJD because He is who they've patterned their lives after. He lived a life that was without blemish. He was kind, generous, fair, trustworthy, and understanding. Though no man is perfect, it is a Christian's duty to strive to be like him every day.
The question does not take away person responsibility, instead it speaks to an individuals acknowledgment of his/her Lord and an acceptance/practice of His teachings. It is further encouragement to do what is right.

"WWJD" is meant for you to think about what is the right thing to do BEFORE you do it. It's not taking away responsibility for yourself in anyway unless you do something that's not Christ-like.

Good point. I guess the follow up to " WWJD" is the desicion you have to make ..thus.. "WWYD", based on "what Jesus would do". Eh?

asking what would jesus do means that you should do what jesus would do like being kind and helping others and it makes you look at thing in a broader veiw and and takes you out of your secular thinking. (secular means basically you think it is all about you you you.

It's in people's nature to do wrong. Jesus does right. That's why followers of Him, or people who want to do good, ask themselves "what would Jesus do?"
