Seeing that YOUR the ones that need it to be down common sense would tell you to look before you sit. That would be funny though..... Hey! You left the seat DOWN again!!!!

Now I know at MY house my b-friend always puts it down. First hes at my house. And second if I need to go to the bathroom at night and dont want to put on the light I will not see that the seat is up, when 95% of the time it is just me and the seat in down.

I recommend a compromise. After you use it, put the seat down, after she uses it, she must put the seat up. This is a very simple and reasonable solution. Of course you could also have a urinal installed but that's rather costly. You could also take to urinating in the sink, shower, or plants if you really can't tolerate the act of lifting the seat. Of course you could also just close the lid. This will force her to open the lid before use, subjecting her to the same inconvenience you face of having to lift the seat before use. Of course I'd rather advocate my first proposition, that of both parties exerting an effort to accomodate the other.

If your living with girls, down... they don't like to look before sitting and hate it when they're butts touch that cold icky water! (Personally I've never had a problem with this because I look before I seat, and secondly, because my generous hiny is too voluptuous for me to fall in!) But if your living by yourself, at a public restroom, or someone's visiting your place, leave the seat up...I'm sure it's more convenient for a guy's aim. As for why women complain, next time you're going to take a ****, leave the seat up, and let yourself fall in! You'll get perspective and know the answer to that baffling question.

It's common courtesy, If you leave the seat up and she uses the facilities and she is in a hurry there is a chance that she will end up sitting in the cold bowl of the water. If the seat is up or down most men can hit the water. If there is a lady in your house, use common courtesy and raise the seat and put it back down when you're done.

Logic says seat up, that way it doesn't get peed on. But the best compromise is to put both the seat and lid down. Then everyone has to lift something to do their business.
Do women instantly go blind when they enter a bathroom? How on earth do you accidently fall into the bowl?! Do you ever sit on the lid? Seriously!

It was never a problem in my house growing up. My mother required us not only to put the seat down, but the lid as well before we flushed. I used to think it was silly, until I saw a Mythbusters episode that showed toilet water really spreads in the bathroom when you flush. I guess that is why there is a lid. I my house, after that show, we not only put the seat down but the lid before we flush.

I live with three boys so I put the seat up when I am done so that I don't have to sit in the pee the next time I need to use it. How's that for a good wife and mother!!!! This way I'm not the only one to fall in,everybody else gets their chance at it too.
