I just got new Strings, and there is about 10 inches of extra string left. What is a good way to get them off?

If you mean that you have 10" of string hanging off the tuning peg at the top of the neck then just cut them short with a pair of wire cutters. Just make sure you cut them short enough to be out of your way or they'll bite you if you're not careful.

U can either use any type of pliers that have cutters on them, or you can just just twist them up into circles like some tool-deficient people.

cut them off with pliers

I was told to use pliers. But it only works if the pliers aren't dull (trust me).
