I think it was around the 1800's that's what it said in the one encyclopedia I had that's how I found out there wasn't a real Santa

In the late 1800's He was a wealthy man and he would seriously climb on roofs of poor people and drop presents down the chimney, unless a fire was going at which point he would set them on the porch.
