No political system is perfect-- especially when enacted on as large a population as the US has. Given that the US's economy is the largest in the world by a significant margin & has been for a long while, there's a stable rule of law in the country, there are orderly transitions in local, state, and federal governments, and the quality of life is relatively high (as a broad generality), I'd say the American politcal system has been a resounding success. Nice work Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, et al.

It's a baby of a system compared to the rest of the world...
These things are fluid, there is no moment when we will say "and now we are done" or "now we have succeeded" etc.
It evolves as the circumstances do.
So far, it's working okay for most Americans, the rest of the world might beg to differ. Plus it depends on how you define success. What would you use to measure this success?
