I noticed that the other day. At least the Red Sox "sox" are actually red!

well their jerseys are gray, black and white so maybe they decided to choose black as their team sock or it could be because of the Black Sox Trial in 1919. for more information aon the trial click on the following link.

White socks don't look too good if their pulled really high. Black socks add some style into it. It's just for the look not to mak a big deal of.
