Some are really satanic and others aren't. Alot of goth musicians aren't famous so they don't get alot of cash so those guys are really satanic. But guys like Marilyn Manson are doing it for the money.

in Slipknot's song "Heretic Anthem" the famous lyrics "If you're 5-5-5 then i'm 6-6-6" he isn't saying he's satanic, he's saying that he isn't like everybody else. Which has to do with the fact that the song is about record executives who wanted them to change their sound to be more radio-friendly.

well some do really believe in Satan and will write for him. on the other hand i believe that its a just a stunt to gain more attention. but think about it, no one really listens to the lyrics or music, (theyre too busy listening to rap or rock music) you can barely understand it. like i said its probably both

They have the help of some evil spirits that give them the words and the music, and the beat. They open themselves up for them to get in, and influence them. They don't realize this, of course. But look in ther eyes sometime, they will narrow their eyes, or not be able to have eye contact. I have seen this in some people.

I think they are "Satanic" and if they are doing it for the
$, that's not too good, as they can draw bad vibes to
themselves, so either way, its negative.

Most of them probably are "Satanic" if they admit it otherwise they aren't and people just assume it -- or just for $$$$ like you said.

i think most of it is for shock value, but some definitely are. one song that comes to mind is sympathy for the devil by the stones. they mention the killing of the kennedys(plural) and it was released the day before bobby kennedy was assassinated.
