A slorg creeps 9 ft up a wall during the daytime. After all the labor it does throughout the day, it stops to rest a while... but falls asleep!! The next morning it wakes up and sees that it has slipped down 6 ft while sleeping.
If this happens every day, how many days will the slorg take to reach the top of a wall 39 ft in height?

Notice that once the slorg gets up to 30 ft, the next day it will make it up to the top. Every day and night, the slug moves a total of 3 ft upwards. It takes 10 days to move up to 30 ft then one more day to make it to the top.

Thus, it takes 11 days.

Wait...

Day:Night

9:3
12:6
15:9
18:12

See the pattern? Everyday, the slorg went 3 ft up. so to find the answer, make an equation: 9+3x=39. So subtract 9 on both sides, so 3x=30. then divide by 3 on both sides, so u will get x=10!

To answer your question, it will takes 10 days to reach 39 ft in height!
