Why do we use so much of other countries oil in our vehicles why can't we be independent and PROUDLY put those American flags on our cars when the oil comes from HERE US OF A.

sadly...the is a lobby group called the
enviromentalist...or "enviroweenies"...they prevent drilling in our country to save a frog.....and the democrats have blocked any new refineries for 25 years...ask them.

cheaper to get the oil from there. here we could have more oil from anwar, offshore drilling but people that live on the ocean dont wanna see an oil well platform out in the sea knowing that if it leaks,their beach is goop. if u can afford oceanfront property,why would u worry about buying gas at a higher price? so they vote against it. still it aint enuff cause we are 5% of world population & burn 20% of daily oil production of world. & everybody on earth wants a car,furnace,jaccuzi, heated swim pool...

We used up all of our oil saving the world for our corporations to conquer and enslave it to sell us cheap stuff at WalMart. We are getting close to importing half of the oil we need every day because the oil fields we have are sucked almost dry. Our 'leaders' keep telling us to buy more stuff to make the economy 'strong', regardless of what all that buying and driving does to our future. Did you know that we ship the oil in Alaska to Japan? It is worth more money over there, so the oil companies sell it to them, then we buy oil from Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Venezuela because it is cheaper and takes less transportation to get it to the east coast cities who want it.

This is a blessing in disguise. This will get our scientists moving to accelerate alternative fuels for use. Yeah, it sucks paying for gas now, but won't it be better when we don't have to pay $5 extra a tank when someone in the middle east blows up a restaraunt? Unfortunatly, we are still years away from something better to use in our cars, so we're stuck paying these prices for a while (and they'll only keep rising).

1/3 of our oil comes from Canada. and another 1/3 comes from Mexico. I don't see how we are dependent on any of them as there are a lot of countries pumping crude!

I agree. We need to start drilling in ANWR and in the Gulf and off Florida and California, and any other freakin' place where there is oil, and run the Arabs out of business.
Of course, the Arab economies would totally crash, and THEN you'd hear them scream "DEATH TO AMERICA!!!" even louder than ever. They are hypocrites.

because middle eastern oil is naturally more refined
