well gods back then were mainly named after words commenly used, where Greece started "zeus" ment weather so when the civilazation became more advance they remembered the word "zeus" scence that is a very common word, probably more used than any other word, they used that to be their chief god

It has to do with his association with the sky. They perceived the sky as the greatest and most powerful of all that was around them, as it contained the sun, moon, and stars and could harm the Earth(with lightning), but the Earth couldn't harm it. But that's just a guess...

Well, Cronos was eating all his children, till Zeus's mother tricked him and fed him a rock instead of Zeus.

Zeus went on to grow up, and cut open Cronos's stomache releasing all his siblings.

I guess you could say they owe him one...

Bescause he was the oldest or something so Mother Earth told him he was the leader. Or maybe he was the youngest. I have'nt read about any of that since I was little.
