Alittle research goes along way here (although, it's arguable whether or not surveys are all that believable... stats can tell you anything and most people don't understand them). At the risk of responding reasonably to people that don't really want a reasonable discussion....

US Doctors (6/2005): In the survey of 1,044 doctors nationwide, 76 percent said they believe in God, 59 percent said they believe in some sort of afterlife, and 55 percent said their religious beliefs influence how they practice medicine. A previous survey showed about 83 percent of the general population believes in God.

Top 1000 Who's Who in Science (1997 to compare with analogous survey in 1916): Edward Larson (a historian at the University of Georgia) and Larry Witham (journalist) randomly selected 1,000 scientists from the reference book, American Men and Women of Science. Of the 60% that responded, 15% are agnostic and 40% still believe in a personal God and afterlife. This is essentially unchanged from 1916. Mathematicians, who were the most inclined to believe in God, (44.6 per cent) while astronomers and physicists the least.

And finally to toss some fire in there (for the fundamentalists...):

From a 5/2006 poll: Only 36% of the 1,007 adults interviewed a month ago by the Scripps Survey Research Center at Ohio University said "yes" to the question: "Do you believe that, after you die, your physical body will be resurrected someday?" 54% said they do not believe and 10% were undecided.

The poll found that most Americans embrace other major elements of traditional Christian dogma. 90% said they believe in a God or a Supreme Being, with 65% saying they are "absolutely certain" that God exists. 72% said they believe in an afterlife in which they will have "some sort of consciousness," although slightly less than half (47%) said they are "absolutely certain" of this.

Gee, let's see... don't talk about politics, sex, or religion at the dinner table. Only 2 more sacred rice bowls to kick over...

Mr Hawking talks a great deal about God and hardly stikes me as an atheist.

He does maintian that the scientific method and God do not coincide, but that is because the scientific method is a way of man and not a matter of faith.

Seems like God and science can not exist in the same mind...

science= method
God=faith
Completely different arguments....
When you are talking about your dog you aren't talking about your girlfriend (only stupid minds confuse them...or not?)

I think they can co-exist. It's just that scientists don't count on God to solve all their problems because you cannot devise an experiment to prove a god exists and things are pretty explainable without god.

They don't. Do a little research, you'll find a lot of great scientific minds actually do believe in a God.

Not just great minds, but any decent thinking individual will leave religious baggage behind when embarking on any rational pursuit.

religion is the perfect opposite of science, it's the negation of rationnality.

I'm certain that your data is wrong. Most scientists I've met don't discuss religion.
