You have to have your antivirus program check on it for viruses. In other words, instead of scanning your entire computer, you set your antivirus program to scan just that file or folder.

Msiexec.exe belongs to the "Windows Installer Component" and is used to install new programs that use Windows Installer package files (MSI).
This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.
~ The best protection you have against viruses, is to have an anti-virus program .... keep it updated and run a scan with it, on a weekly basis.
If you need one, there are two excellant free ones to pick from:
Avast

AVG

FYI -
You can assess several online databases of known viruses, if you want to check a file that you feel seems suspicious.
Here's one:
Symantec

Msiexec.exe is the Windows Installer Service. It can be potentially infected. I recommend you use an antivirus software such as Norton or McAffee to scan your filesystem

A great tool to use is free McAfee SiteAdvisor. If you are downloading programs or doing searches, it will tell you if what you are looking at could be potentially harmful or if you would be receiving a lot of spam if you entered your email address.
If you have heard of Kim Komando, you will know she recommends this highly. It is one little icon that sits in your tool bar. When doing searchers, there will be a little red, green or yellow button behind each search to let you know if it is a good site or one to steer clear from.
