no but theres an online child protection act that prevents sites from making any kind of contract with someone under 14. so for legal protections myspace puts that as the limit. the great thing about the web is you can lie, so a two year old could put that they are 14 and no noe would know the difference.

Dunno, but 14 year olds or any other child shouldn't be on there! There are online predators these days, and they'll harm, young, unaware children. One stupid girl was just found today after she ran away to meet up with her 'myspace man' and a few months ago this other girl invited her guy friend on myspace to her house and it turned out to be a 40 year old dude who molested her!! I know that if I ever have children, I'll teach them some common sense that this damn generation is lacking!

Yes, there is an extremely thorough background check. If you lie about your age they will know, and they will hunt you down.....
