There are 5 love languages - acts of service, physical touch, time, words of affirmation, gifts.
Try to find out which one your wife/girlfriend responds to. People naturally show love the way they would recognise it. For example, your partner could buy you little gifts all the time, this is a dead give away that they feel loved when their given a gift. But on the other hand, you could give gifts until your broke but unless their love language is gifts they won't recognise this as you showing you love them.
Mine is time, my husband's is acts of service. If my husband spent all his time cleaning the bathroom to show me he loves me I wouldn't think he did (i'd think he was just wanting sex!) because I would be wanting him to just sit down and spend time with me. I'm now learning to remember that my husband doesn't want sex when he cleans the bathroom - its his way of showing how he loves me!
It can be hard showing love in a way that is not natural to you, however that in itself is an act of love. It can also be quite fun coming up with different ways to show the other person how much you love them!

By cherishing the time you spend with her, appreciating who she is as a person, supporting her in all her endeavors, and being a true friend and not just a lover to her.. All else will unfold in time. Take care and good luck...
