i just ask the question what was the name of the dog in the wizard of oz i have never seen the film should i get it ,it must be good ??? thats a question

Seriously, don't!
The Wizard of Oz is a film for the light-hearted, the not-so-serious, the not-so-smart and the musical loving. I abhor it. It is one of the most annoying and fantastical films ever made. The movie features some of the stupidest things in the worlds - both Oz and Earth. This film is most enjoyed by the sort of people who believe that anything can happen, maybe even believe that the plot line itself is possible; who think that good always triumphs over evil; the not-so-smart people who end up singing the stupid songs constantly, end up buying sheet music for it and forcing me to listen to it whilst trying to either watch television, go on here or play the piano. Those people are my brother and cousin!
Watch it at your peril.
Why not watch a real classic as opposed to this "classic", such as a movie of one of the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky. Tell me that Crime and Punishment is not a classic; it's survied 150 years, I'd love to see The Wizard of Oz survive 50.
Alternatively, read one of Edgar Allan Poe's works.

Yes, rent it, watch it, enjoy it!
A note to the person who said, "get the color version" ... The opening part of the film is in black-and-white, the scenes that take place in Oz are in color, then the final scene is in black-and-white again.

I wouldn't choose to watch it now but it's an old classic and one most people saw as a kid - you should watch it just to see what the fuss was about. And it might help if you do pub quizzes where they ask random stuff like your last question.

Its a classic man!! Where you been for the last xxxx christmases!!! (obviously somewhere more exciting than me!!!) You should see it, its brilliant - but dont bother with the return to oz, cos thats pants!!

I completely agree with Daniel M. if you're going to watch any of it, watch the second one, return to oz, it was more original and way more entertaining.

I would recommend it. It is a classic. But get the colored version. You would really enjoy it.

its fab!!I cant believe theres a single person out there who has not seen it!!sorty ourself out and get down to HMV the morra and get a copy! You'll love it!! (honest)
