If all men were raised to treat women with kindness and tenderness, would there be less violence against women? Would there be less abandoned mothers? Would women be treated with greater respect and not as the sex toys the media currently portrays women as?

Yes! Absolutely. And with that I think that women need to restore their own self confidence also. I think that both of those things would benefit society in great ways.

I just wish women especially would find out who they are and accept themselves. If they can't do that then they will never be respected. Stop worrying about weight, wrinkles and clothes and just be happy. They should pay attention to what is happening to women all over the world and realize that there are some disturbing trends that are being set and put forth that younger girls are facing or will face. This should be the worry instead of focusing on the shallow insecurities many women have.

Absolutely restoring chivalry would benefit women. Not necessarily in the way that you have outlined, however.

How many times have you heard a woman ask "Where have all the real men gone?" I'll tell you what happened...We asked them to be nice guys. We've taken away the things that made them boys. Women, in their enthusiasm for women's equality, have beaten them at their own game, thus emasculating them. Under chivalry, women could still be very much "equal," they would just have to relearn their definition of feminism. But if we're asking men to redefine their definition of masculine, that would only be fair.

I've seen too many men wonder, "Do i have what it takes to be a man?" just because their own uninvolved/passive fathers didn't pass on their masculinity to them"

Well, yes. But that will never happen. True chivalry was lost when the powers that be stopped appreciating and valuing the differences between the sexes. They decided that women were essentially evil beings who needed controlling, whereas men were uncontrollable beasts who weren't to be trusted. Cue marriage, keeping men busy with mouths to feed and keeping women from straying by being continually pregnant.

Religion is social control.

chivalry and what it stands for I would really like to see it come back. But long before divorce and child support a man just left the woman stranded to fend for herself so it isn't a cure but it sure would be in the right direction. I personally think it should cost lots to get married and a divorce should be cheap and people would take it more seriously as they should. :-)
