Why is it that under the guise of "health issues" you're justifying and approving of discrimination and persecution against them in many areas? Is it because you can no longer get away with doing so against minorities or gays? Do you realize that by such an attitude a lot of young women are killing themselves because they prefer to be dead than fat?

I think it is despicable, and shame on all of you who have prejudicial views against fat people. Like the rest of you, they're just trying to live their life and they're no less productive in society.

I can think of a million things that are far, far worse than simply being fat. You can be a murderer, a pedophile, a thief, etc., and if we want to go after someone, these are the people we should go after. Not people who are mostly trying to mind their own business like the rest of us, and enduring mostly false accusations of "eating too much" which is something that it isn't true. I have seen skinny people eat a lot more than a fat person does, for instance.

Fat people are no different than the rest of us, other than our size, and you know what, there have always been fat people and there will always be fat people. They're not going away and quite frankly I wouldn't want them to. Many of them are very kind and loving human beings.

And Paul of Houston, not everybody who suffers from heart disease or diabetes is fat. Is Mary Tyler Moore fat? Do some reading and stop believing everything you hear in the media.

But we do.Its a fact that obese people are a strain on the health system(diabetes, heart trouble etc.).This is caused by their (fat people) self indulgence with out regard for anyone else. They also take up to much space, consume more than they produce and mostly are poor worthless individuals.

Absolutely, and thank you for saying so. Why is it taboo to tell someone something about their hair, or that they are too thin, or anything else we deem too personal to mention...but boy oh boy a fat person is fair game.

Had a man come to town recently who is working for our church. One of our old gals offered her home for him to stay. First thing she said to him was, well for one thing you're way too big. He handled it well and told her...ohh you don't want to go there.

Why on earth would that ever be acceptable to say to anyone. As if WE (yep I'm a big one) don't already know our size.

Do they think we will say, "Oh really, I'm big? I didn't know, thank you. I wondered why Ralph Lauren hadn't called me to model for him!"

We are big, it isn't easy to change that, and we live a quiet agony, hoping every day will be the day we finally get control.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Discrimination on the basis of appearance or size is unacceptable.
