Peninsular and Sarawak. We love quiet places and beautifull nature and beaches, but also cities or towns with many markets and stuff.

Wow johnnguyen365, why such a hurry in correcting my language? You probably understand the question, so it's not a big thing, is it?
But to answer your question, I am not native English speaking and I made a language mistake.

January and February in Malaysia,
hmm... it about the same all year round as far as the weather is concern, either rain or sunshine.
First two months of the year is about Chinese new year time in Malaysia, Major Cities will be slightly quite due to the fact most people working in cities will be going back to their respective home towns during the long festive breaks. So, be prepared for higher prices and crowds at tourist locations like Penang island.
Actually, there will be a lot of sales going on prior to that and in conjunction with the December holidays most parts of the cities will be decorated too. If you like beaches, go for Redang island, Sipadan, Langkawi island (shopping) or even Penang. Kuala Lumpur is the Capital of Malaysia and you will get a diversity of culture, food, goods and people here.

Anyways, Have a great time and welcome!! or Selamat Datang!!
