I plan to move to Austin real soon and heard that Austin is a great place to live. I"ve only been to Austin for school. I attended ITT Technical Institue off of hwy 290, but never really had the chance to visit 6th street or other places. I've also noticed that there are alot of friendly and down to earth people in Austin. Everytime I go there, people always give me a warm smile and hello.

I know I'm not supposed to plug my business, but....it so happens that we offer a great way to get into the social and fun activity scene as well as make new friends. Most of our activities are open to non-members, at a higher price so even visitors who just want something to do and some local flavor can participate.

We own a social and outdoor adventure club. We plan and offer a wide variety of social, outdoor and fitness events for just about anyone. It's a great way to get connected as well as learn all the hot spots and "underground" things to do.

Check it out - www.austininaction.com. We have a lot of FREE info on the site, like our Freebie of the Day, which lists a ton of great stuff to do that is FREE. We are the only resource of its kind here, and the information offered is growing rapidly.

If you want to know what to do here, you'll soon find it all on our site.

For live music (Austin has more live music EVERY SINGLE DAY INCLUDING XMAS) than any other city in the world and much of it is FREE, check out www.austinmetro.com.

www.austin360.com also lists a lot of stuff.

Between the 3 sites, you won't miss much.

Yes, we are friendly. I've been here 5 years and almost never go anyplace I don't run into someone I know (and there's nearly a million people in the metro area).

I live in Austin now attending UT. Austin is soooo beautiful, there are many places to visit. First start with the natural locations. Hamilton Pool (Nature Preserve), Barton Springs located in Zilker Park (Huge Natural Spring Pool), you have to see the bats at Sout Congress Bridge (There are 1.5 million bats living under a bridge and at night time they all come out at once, amazing!), and Lake Travis (45 minutes outside of Austin but you camp and go cliff diving there). Now for the night life, 6th street is cool if you want to get it wild, but I prefer 4th street because it is more laid back and there are a lot of bands that come to play there. Some places to go see music is Emo's, the Backyard, and Zilker park. You are going to love Austin there is so much to do and so many cool people!

Call the Chamber of Commerce to get the run down on events that are comming.

Every year there is the very cool South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival featurinng some of the bands that will soon make it big. So if you like music you can aim for March 2007.

Austin is a very unusual little island in the middle of a state such as Texas. It is more akin to cities like Portland, OR; Madison, WI; or Seattle, WA.

Ask the locals about the bat cave. They had a cave where thousands of bats roosted. At sunset, they'd all come flying out. What an incredible sight!!
