My best friends 15 year old daughter claims that she is full blown gay. I want to know at 15 if you really know or if she is just really confused. It seems now days being gay is a new fad, and i am wondering if maybe she is going thru the new fad.

It does seem to be a fad for teenage girls to be bi. I think they do it so they can be freely sexual without having to deal with boys. I do think it is *possible*, but not likely for a 15-y/o to know if they are gay.

It's possible that she is going through a fad, but suggesting that would only make her more insistent that it's the real thing (and perhaps it is.) I would think the best course of action for that parent would be to apply the same rules regarding dating, etc. as they would if the girl was interested in a heterosexual relationship and let the girl decide for herself.

She might be going through a phase, but in my experience, gay people tend to have some idea they're gay their entire lives. Really only time will tell and as long as your friend continues to love and support her, it's not an issue.
