Everywhere has pros and cons. I've been around the country, but haven't yet found a state that I like better than Florida. If you like cold and snow, this is not the place for you. It does get cold here, but snow is extremely rare. Prices are high, and some areas are becomming overcrowded pretty quick. If you don't like bugs, snakes, and lizards, there are plenty here. If you do like those critters like I do, there are plenty here.
There are tons of things to do. Beaches are never too far away, and most cold spells pass within a few days. The landscape is beautiful, and we have one of the finest State Park systems in the country. The cultural diversity in some areas is probably second to only NYC.
So yes, I think you should consider living here!

Florida is a GREAT place to visit but I would never move there. Too hot. Good beaches but again that makes it good for a vacation spot not a place to live necessarily. You have to drive everywhere in Florida and the drivers there aren't the world's best. Plus too many hurricanes and storms in general. The constant humidity and saltwater are bad for houses too.
That said, I can't wait to go on vacation to Florida next winter.

Alot of people posted as if trying to scare you with no facts at all...Bugs.No-see-ums. Humid. Hot. Hurricanes. Expensive. Sucks. Every Poisonous Critter in the World. Alligators. Hillbillies. Smells by the Ocean. Possible Tsunami. Crammed
Pros. Beaches. Surf. No Cold Winters (pro or con). Good Shopping. Lots of Things to Do. Fishing. Boating. Decent Jobs.
advice: Don't move there....that's what bubble chubbee posted...

It is hot and humid. There's critters but I've seen more in Maine actually...Alligators..? I have yet to see one walk by me at all I WANT TO SEE ONE THOUGH! Hillbillies?? Hardly. POSSIBLE TSUNAMI?
lol seriously get your facts straight.... I would suggest moving but remember never ask total strangers about important life decisions... the pros can be the women are pretty the people can be nice... there's nightclubs for partying..you do need money though...don't take advice from people who don't live here its stupid..you consult travel agencies and real estates and go on-line for more information.

I live in central Florida now. I would NEVER live in Miami because they get more hurricanes & ave more crime than I care to deal with! You know that alot of crimanls move to Miami (watch america's most wanted & see for yourself!)
Florida is too expensive to live in. The price for land alone could be over $85,000 per acre (depends where you are)... The driving here is horrible (too many tourist driving & too many europeans that forget which side to drive on). You HAVE to have a car to get anywhere. Public buses suck!
Good thing about living here are: weather is nice (if you like warm winters & HOT summers). Beaces are clean (well, most of them are). There are plenty of things to do & see (if you have money)
Most people live in FL for less than 5 years. I have been here for 4 years & think I will be moving too.

in the winter it's beautiful...you don't have to shovel sunshine!
the summer kinda sucks...it's very humid...right now it's cooler here than it is in new york, but it's muggy and the UV index is listed as "extreme".
if you have any phobias about creepy crawly things this is not the place for you. it's taken me a very long time to get used to sharing my yard w/ families of little lizards.
another pro...probably the best...no spot in Florida is more than 100 mi away from the ocean. i live about 10 mins away from the beach, and when I'm there, it makes the lizards bearable.

the pay is good but the bills are high my parents pay 1000 a month just for rent and 300 for each utility. my tag was 700 for a used car and i had to pay for taxes on the price of the car even though i did not buy it there. there are no income or food tax except for fast food. too many people it is like little new yorks everywhere and not really nice unless you are right by the beach. it is very unfriendly in the cities. hurricanes. commercialization is big and everything costs more.
