Anger is a sign of... anger. It doesn't mean he or she is guilty, although that could be considered somewhat common. Maybe they're upset that you'd think that about them? Would even question them in that way? Or maybe they just need to ease the **** up. Who knows?

Don't count on it being a sign of guilt. I think it's more likely that it's a sign of you offending them. Explain that you really are concerned, and feeling a lack of trust. That you are just being honest with them, and that you need an honest answer, because you deserve to know what kind of a person that they are. If you need more information about it, then ask. Then let it go, trust the answer, at least until you get more information that leads away from it. Life is too short to spend it all looking twice at everything. Take things as people put them out there, until you have a reason not to.

If they are not usually an angry person when they are confronted with such questions, it's possible. But they may just be offended by or don't understand where the question is coming from. Might I suggest looking for someone that is much less high strung though? Trust me, it makes you nuts after a while and starts to rub off on you.....

anger is often used as a defense mechanism and 9 outta 10 times the person is guilty if the first reaction is anger. it also depends on the question...

It depends what you asked? And how you asked....

Even the most innocent of people can be angered by a rude, absurd and badly posed question.

(especially if the question sounds like an accusation)

Yes! If they are innocent and a decent person, they will not get mad.-They will talk it over with you.
You do have to ask yourself what is it they are trying to justify with anger.

It could be, or they could be mad if you're asking an unreasonable question. (for example: were you the one who made a potty in the middle of my living room?)
