you really can't. I would suggest that you buy some plastic plugs to install in the outlets so your child will not get electrocuted.

Use the child safety plugs in every outlet that she has access to.

When you catch her touching an outlet whether it has a plug in it or not, say NO very loudly in a very stern voice. Then remove her from near the outlet & give her something else to do that will keep her busy so that she forgets about the outlet.

If she does it again remind her with a loud NO and spank her hand.

Child proof you home. Get down on her level and crawl around on your knees and look at the areas in your home that may be dangerous for her and correct them.

My daughter wouldn't leave them alone, even with the stoppers. She figured out how to get them off. With my sons, a slap on the hand twice at the most took care of it. With my daughter, she actually had to be electrocuted. She stuck my good tweezers into an outlet and shocked herself good. She's never touched another. Thank God my husband is an electrician. He fixed what she messed up and knew what to do for her. And thank God she wasn't seriously hurt.

My daughter is 18 months and she was too curious. So one day when she was going towards the outlet I came up from behind her and grabed her and yelled NO! at the same time. It really scared her and she hasn't touched one since. I know it sounds mean but it really worked for us.She figured out how to get the plastic covers off they are not guaranteed.

I agree with carpet shark because you can cover you own outlets, but what of others in other places. You have to make your child understand what is right and wrong. Not making them mind you could lead to their death in a situation of this nature. So cover them and use strict obedience training. It may sound mean, but your child will understand why it was done and when they get older will remember it and teach their own kids as well. Good parenting is passed on that way and is a great reward.

I told my son that the only place in the world that there are monsters are in the electrical outlets. I told him that if he ever touches the outlets, the very bad monsters will come out. He is 4 now and still stears clear of outlets. He's not afraid of monsters being anywhere else, because he knows that they are in the outlets. It's worked for me, that, and outlet covers.

What mommy does she will too. Go to the hardware store and buy her one. She will play with it for a while and get bored.Tell her this is hers and this is mommy's. I was worried about my son til he showed me he could plug and unplug the Christmas lights. He had his own plug in.

im sure you a tired of hearing it by now, but yep, plastic covers. Another thing i do is bundle all my wires together with a rubber band or old hair tie so that they are not dangling all over the place, it make them seem less appealing. and also, try and keep as much as you can in front of them so that baby can't even see them.

its frustrating, but she will get over the thrill of it .
have fun mommy =)

A loud NO! and if that doesn't stop her, a slap on the hand. It sounds mean, but I think electric outlets are EXTREMELY dangerous, and they need to learn NEVER to play with them!

I work for Head Start and we got some good covers that you have to press and pull. I don't she can do that ,I can barly do that. I don't know where they came from but I'm sure a local store. Keep your eye out for them. Or you could just pop up behind her and give a good yell and make her jump.
