I can't wait to get out of here. 9 hurricanes hit the state in 2 years. Terrible traffic & road construction. Oppressive heat & bugs. Alligator fatalities (3 in one month this year!), so you must worry about swimmming. Red Tide in the Gulf. Way overpriced housing. I could go on. If you're wealthy it's good for vacation in winter when the weather is nice, but millions of tourists jam everything. There are a few fun places at certain times. But generally, don't believe the tourist promos, at least for south FL.

Yes kill yer You are Right ON

There is little or no protection for consumers or workers. If your landlord chooses to not give back your security deposit or your employer chooses to not give you your final paycheck, Florida law almost always sides with the landlord or boss, not the ordinary citizen. If you expect your children to receive an education in public schools, then Florida is not for you; our education system is in the "thank God for Mississippi, so we aren't last" category. If you're used to the kind of social services available in places like New York or Michigan, you're in for a rude awakening here in "The Sunshine State." The philosophy here is that people who can't afford to obtain needed services privately at their own expense deserve to do without. In short, it is a good place to live for people with plenty of money.

It's alright the alligator fatality is a stupid thing to pay attention to...
not all of Florida is expensive...Miami is though...overall its better than most states surveys do say that California, Texas, New York, and Florida are the most favored places to live in.

As a former resident, depends which part you live in and of course if you like oven hot temperature and humidity. and bugs and alligators (they really like pools by the way) but, hey that happens when you live in a swamp. oh and I almost forgot, our beloved hurricanes.

All my folks live there, mostly in central florida and yeah the housing is getting expensive, but not even near as expensive as up north like lets say maryland where I live now, where you could get a hut I mean rowhome for 300,000, in Fl you could still get decent housing for much less than that .

And really its like anything, there was a time that, you could live like a phat cat in the beach with very little, in popular spots, like south florida, now you got to go to the panhandle and places from orlando on up and maybe not even that anymore.

Its not that bad, you just got to go where the real people live

The truth is: It's extremely hot and extremely humid especially in summer months. The hurricanes are not a good thing. Insurance is very expensive....both car and homeowners and renter's. Get used to lots and lots of bugs and cockroaches. You'll be knowing your Orkin man on a first named basis. But if you don't care about any of that and want sunshine...that's the place to go.

No. My mother has lived in Florida for over 5 years and she hates it. It's hot, humid, dry. Sand gets into everything and ruins your carpet. You can't hang your clothes out to dry because they come in smelling like fish and the bugs are big enough to carry you away. And let's not forget the hurricanes....
