moped is fast and usually street legal. Scooters are usually battery powered and dont have the same speed as mopeds.

I thought that a MOPED required PEDDLING to be started, and a scooter was electric start. Let me consult the dictionary.
moped: a bicycle propelled by a small motor
scooter: a child's toy fo rriding on, consisting of a low, narrow footboard with a wheel or wheels at each end, and a raised handlebar for steering
I guess that if it is like a BIKE it is a moped, and if it is like a SKATEBOARD WITH HANDLES it is a scooter. Is that a good enough answer?

An actual moped has pedals and a scooter does not. You used to have to pedal the old mopeds to get them started.

Yes, a moped must be possible to operate by pedal power, is of limited power, and in most places is legally a bicycle. A scooter is legally a motorcycle and has no power restrictions. It is a body style. They are usually low power and cabable of speeds up to 60-70 mph.

I think a moped goes a little faster than a scooter. Other than that, i think that there is no difference.

mopeds are a little less masculine than a scooter. And scooter is at least million times less masculine than a motorcycle.

moped= motor w/ pedal
scooter= has electric start (with a key) or kickstart (like a dirtbike, and you don't have to pedal. a lot nicer than a moped i think, and great if you don't want a motorcycle. they're also great on fuel!

Scooters do not, and have electronic or kick-start capability like a motorcycle.

yea moped i dont think is made anymore they are the ones you had to peddle to get started and didnt have much power had to help pedal it up steep hills scotter is new improved good one to get
