In a land of opportunity, why are so many of us content to just settle for our boring 9-5 jobs, fast food, and cheap living? Why don't more people just go out and invent things? Why don't we come up with revolutionary new ideas to make our lives better and more enjoyable? And why do we put up with crap from overbearing bosses, who like to single us out for miserable tasks, just because they hate us and want to watch us suffer? Why don't we just.............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, Sorry, I'm tired. I need to take a nap.

I'm going to venture a guess. Could greed and avarice have anything to do with it?

It seems to me when an invention does occur, that technology is sold overseas, produced there, and shipped back here as an imported commodity. We export more technology than any other country on the planet.

So, it would seem more people are interested in lining their own pocket rather than trying to improve the human condition.

This answer took it all out of me, so I'm going to catch a few winks myself...............

Well, in life ppl go through things as I call it "same oh same oh". Have you ever had the feeling of not going to a resturant that you've heard has the worst food in the world???? You're afraid to go...so you just stick w/ something that you've had before. See I believe in living like it's the last day of your life. Some ppl live by the way they grew up meaning instead of going to a different church, they go to a church they've been going to for a long time ever since they were born. Or for instance...some ppl are afraid of change and differences. I mean I went through the point in my life that everyday I woke up and had my whole day planned out. I mean that's not a bad thing to do...it helps, but live outside of the box for once. Oh and about bosses that single you out, all I can say is that they need God. I mean ppl who do that junk is really messed up. They just look at what talents you have that they don't. They should be at least happy that you're making the stupid company better, but that's how life is.

No clue. I would say that I don't settle for a boring 9-5 job, I'm in the Navy.

I don't think, that to make a difference, you have to be a Thomas Edison, a Benjamin Franklin or a Martin Luther King Jr.

Its all in how you look a life I would say. Everyone makes a difference.

Id say as we drift moreso away from our founding princeples we grow ever closer to the latter. Right now we have a much less capitalistic society and more of a fascistic socialistic society where taxs are kept low on the very rich and regulations that are often put in place are meant to take out smaller businesses. In a true free market i beleive we have more opportunity than we would under our current system.

if those people worked harder then they might get promoted to a higher job position that has the control and power to boss the other people around,who are slacking off and not up to par or only do the minimun instead of kissing the boss person's a** and getting salary raises.one must sacrafice their dignity sometimes to make it up the corporate ladder.no wonder that one quote goes.....you snooze,you lose.i need another oatmeal powerbar****puke****:-(

Because some of us want to live and let live. We don't think that everyone thinks as we do and we don't think that everyone wants the world to change. We live our lives and raise our children and work for the betterment of ourselves - and that's good enough for us.

Because we're lazy and we dont' think that we are deserving and able to get better and nicer jobs... It's falls in to the same reason why people stay into bad relationships... they need it to surivive...
