Check the mode feature if your player has one. This allows you to manually switch between CD, MP3 and other modes. If its a specific CD, check if it has a lot of scratches. If its all CDs, try cleaning the laser lens if you can get to it, if not get a cleaning disk. Then if its still not working would be the time to take it to be repaired. Dust and grit, usually especially bad in a car, getting into the player can cause a lot of odd things to happen.

Possibly it can't read this particular disk. It may be damaged, in my cd player at home I had this same thing happen when I knew I had just put a cd into the unit (1 of 5) I checked & found it was slightly out of allignment, hense it read no disc. I moved it slightly, and it was fine. There is a possibility that you might try another disc that you know works to see if it reads this disc. If not maybe time for a tech to check.

Is the disc that you are trying to play a disc that was burned from your computer? Some car cd players won't work with some burned cds.

Check for scratches...

Try original cds (not burnt discs). Still the same problem with all discs? Broken cd player...

Only a problem on certain discs, your player can't read those discs..

buy a cd cleaning kit. it comes with a cd lens cleaner.just insert the cd and the problem is solved.when you travel, dust circulates and attracts to the lens.causing it to block the laser beam to read the info on the cd.resulting the unit to interpret it as "no disc" good luck.

You should probably clean your CD player with a disk cleaner. You can get one of those at any electronic store or even at a Wal-Mart. Also, you can clean off the dust periodically on your CDs to prevent things like this from happening again. good luck.

Does it only happen with one particular CD? or does it happen with ANY CD? If it happens with one particular CD and that's the only one, get a new copy of that cd, if it happens with every CD you try to put in, you might need to get the CD player replaced.

A lot of cd players read "no disc" when there is a "copied" cd in there. Upgrade your cdr's

If it's not a burned cd then there is something wrong with your cd player. But, if it is then your cd player doesn't play that format and it only allows "real" cd's.
