Jesse Jackson said once, New York is Hymny town, I do not know how it is spelled, but Jackson said this against the large population of Jews in New York. Prejudice against Jews is a world wide idea and not an isolated event. Mel Gibson is more under attack because of what his father has said in the past and because Gibson is a strong Catholic and conservative. The Passion of the Christ was called racist, but the point of the movie was to show the painful experience of Jesus' death, not to attack the Jewish people. It was a demonstration of Gibsons' love of Christ and his strong faith. The reason why Jesus died, was to bring salvation to the lost and not to bring blame to the Jewish people. Jesus said time and time again, forgive those that treat you badly. Jesus forgave those people who killed him at the cross 2,000 years ago. It is about time that everybody else did the same.

Everyone wants to cast stones on Gibson--even the Jews. No one wants to stop a second and realize that Mel Gibson is merely human.....totally NO different than you and I.
And as humans....we all make mistakes.
Allow Gibson his and let him find a way to atone. As for the politically correct, shut up and dance.

Mel Gibson isn't a politician, he's an entertainer. Therefore, not a political blunder, just a regular blunder.

When you have a person, such as Mel Gibson, who puts himself above all others (thinks he owns Malibu, and that he's better than every one else) ... The masses just sit back and wait for the slip.

Mel is under the gun.
There was still a lot of fallout from "The Passion" and his father denies the holocaust occured.
If it was a simple drunk driving problem, OK. It happens a lot in Hollywood.
The anti-Jew comments (and it would have work for anti-Black, anti-woman, anti-American) is what propelled this from a simple trafficv problem to a PR nightmare.

Because Gibson's comments will impact his income directly.
if he does not make peace with the Jews and other people he offended with his remarks, he stands to lose MILLIONS in future business as people stay away from his movie projects. Plus he has dozens to hundreds of people relying on his income to make theirs'. THEY would also be very unhappy with Mel if he let them down.
A congresman gets paid way less, and unless he actually kills someone, there are no financial reprecussions for saying stupid things.
in fact, it is kind of expected of them.
