Pond fish live longer 20-40 years. ALthough the oldest goldfish recorded died at 43. It was a simple comet in a fish tank.

Well cared for aquarium goldfish live 7-15 years.

Most goldfish live a few months because of ignorant owners.

Usually, if they are cared for, about 15 years. Ours died after 3. My dad has some at his house in a pond outside that are 9 years already, and thriving (the cheap $.12 ones from Meijer).

Whoah, that's a long time, for a gold fish to live!!! My gosh, thats long, you must have had it, in a tank , that had a filter, and the works, hoh? Sure, sounds like it, because, I just bought my daughter some gold fish a couple months back , when she had to have a tonsilectomy, and they all died within a month! Of course, I told her ahead of time to keep the fish bowl, as clean as possible, because I wouldn't expect them to live for very long since, we couldn't afford a tank and all, at that time! So, I'm sorry your fish died, thats enough time to get attached, I'm so sorry for you!! Smile, because, he got to live a long life, because of you..!!!

depends on the size of the pond .
a gold fish is a carp and if they have a large pond they can get very big,and maybe as old as 20 plus years
but in a bowel they will never grow to their full potential or age.
fish in small ponds are always restricted.

Under ideal conditions gold fish live for many years.

Not so ideal and their life spans are significantly abbreviated.
