What is wrong with the other two parties?

2006-08-02 12:24:11 · 13 answers · asked by ? 5 in Politics & Government Politics

FYI- I know that democrats are the same as liberals, I wrote it to see how many people were answering questions about our government that are not actually from the US.

I also wanted to see how many shades of gray there was in the answers of the true republican and democrats.

I'm neither. I'm independent which means I don't require a political party to tell me what my values are.

Republicans are of the opinion that everyone should succeed and those who don't should be made homeless and starved to death. While starving to death they must follow a very strict set of morals. When they don't, republicans want to punish them.

Democrats are a bad mix of liberals and conservatives. They as a party aren't brave because of it and they can never stand for anything.

I'll admit that the above statements are a little over the top, but they show my opinion of the major parties. Neither one is worth anything.

the two political parties in our history have always been divided, as Emerson said, into the party of hope and the party of memory." You have to have been a Republican to know how good it is to be a Democrat." - Jacqueline Kennedy "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." - President Franklin D. Roosevelt
"The Democratic party I've come to understand is an inclusive and diverse party whose principles are drawn from the same roots that guided men who wrote our constitution." Democrats and Republicans both say you should climb the ladder of success. But the Republicans say, when you get to the top, pull the ladder up behind you. We Democrats say that you leave it down for others to climb too." - Senator Tom Harkin "I decided to be a Democrat starting in the presidential elections of 1960 when John F. Kennedy excited me with a promise to get the country moving again. I think he gave people a sense that they could make a difference." - President Bill Clinton

Both parties are out of touch (for the most part) with real Americans. I would like to see the GOP go back to the Reagan days. It was a great time to be a conservative.

I stand Independent. My views are very liberal though. I just don't want to be associated with a party because most Politicians are screwjobs.

I`m Democrat.
I couldn`t vote Republican because I feel they are a racist party and don`t give a rat *** about the poor in America.

a little too open minded, myself, to be republican i'm afraid. simple political slogans don't work on me. faith based policies, especially faith based international policies, don't move me one bit. republicans want the safety of their parents homes spread around the world. any problem we face around the world would be fixed if everybody else tried to behave more in line with what their parents believed. republicans are either too arrogant or too ignorant of the globe they are working hard to extract more dollars from. money doesn't equal speech, it equals the freedom to not have your country's decisions made for you from abroad. the more money we make as a nation equals the number of decisions our country gets to make for the other countries and their peoples around the world. the ethics of capitalism and the ethics of egalitarianism (equality) are starting to collide big time in our new world order.
