My 6 year old little sister wants to learn how to play our piano. Know of any good websites to help?

I know myself how to play the piano and plan to show her how myself. I'm just looking for a website that will give me a good general way to learn how to play and one that gives easy songs for children her age to learn how to play.

Its much easier if someone can actually show her and teach her. Try hiring someone for lessons

No, he's certainly not too young. My three - year - old has been playing drums (yes, REALLY playing a real drum set) for over a year, and started playing guitar a few months ago. Hubby has played both, along with singing and playing piano, for over 20 years. When our son showed an interest, we got him his own child - sized real (NOT toy) instruments. In our case, we let him make the decision. When he wanted to learn something, Dad would show him. He also learned quite a bit just by listening and imitating. I would suggest contacting a Suzuki music teacher in your area. They usually work with children as young as three. Remember, it needs to be fun or he won't get anything out of it. Forcing or pressuring him to play will have an adverse effect on him. Good luck!

I'd say it was just about impossible to learn how to play the piano from a website - it's something you need to be shown how to do in person. A website would be too general, and not show your daughter what applies to her personally. It would be best to go to a teacher in order to learn.

Nordent, don't you read? She said sister, not daughter... sheesh!!

Anyways, try buying a simple book that is a step by step teaching tool (they actually come pretty cheap now). As long as you help her along, and show her the basics, you'll be fine. But sorry, there is no internet sites that actually teach playing piano.

Try the Alfred's Series, they are perfect for what you are looking for.
