Hancock Fabrics has a store in New York, but it is in Tonawanda, NY. Don't know if that is anywhere near New York city.
also do a yahoo seaech keywords: fabric stores in new york city and it will bring up a listing of all the fabric stores the addresses and telephone numbers and even driving directions.
Also you might do a yahoo search on Joannes Fabrics (similiar to Hancock Fabrics) and see if there is one in New York City.
