Yes it will particularly if you over apply it! Use something with less nitrogen and more potassium. Potassium wll help the roots grow, which is what you want for newly planted grass (if it is sod).

ammonium sulphate is not acidic, its a strong alkali. The ammonia is converted into nitrogen by soil bacteria, and it will "burn" if overapplied.

yes it will, the acid content is to much for any grass.
