Hello, i'm 15 and a guy, but my parents won't even think about letting me date. They think that the only time to date is when you want to get married, and after ur 26 yrs old. They say that only "bad teens" and Mexicans and Blacks (yeah, they're racist) do that and say stupid things to add to that, like "a mexican family won't let their kid live if they don't have a baby by 13" and all that other bs that i don't believe. Please help..

My Dad was the same way until I stood up to them. It take ALOT OF COURAGE but, 'Feel the Fear, and Go for it'. Talk to them more. Tell them you want to have a mature conversation, and discuss why you think you should, and shoul not date without being racist. If they can't do it without cracking racial jokes, or blaming the reasons on another race, JUST TELL THEM THEN 'THEY ARE NOT ADULT ENOUGH TO HAVE A 'MATURE CONVERSATION' WITH YOU. And yes, I was born and raised in the south, my father was/is the same way as your parent(s). Try to talk to one of them at a time, then try with both of them together. Good luck man.

That seems really harsh (and I'm not even talking about the racist stuff!) If they won't even give you the freedom to hang out with your friends, you're going to have a hard time either convincing them to let up or dating behind their back (which I can't really recommend anyway... if they find out, you'll just be restricted even more.) You're free to do what you want in 3 years, though. If you make friends with girls in the meantime, you'll probably make an awesome boyfriend at 18 because you'll have a good sense of what girls are all about. Good luck and hang in there!

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. Do your parents let you hang out with guys though? What about doing something with a group of friends, you could invite a irl to with you to hang out or go to a movie with your friends. This should satisfy them that you aren't alone with a girl, since it sounds like they are worried that you may have a baby if your left alone with one. I know it'll be hard probably but just tell them (or one of them if easier) that you aren't ready for sex & it wouldn't happen if you went out on a date, but that you respect thier rules and see if they'll let you go on a group date sometime. As long as you tell them where you'll be at, who'll be with you & when you'll be there. They should come around to accepting that. As long as you approach them in a responsible way & tell them EXACTLY what the plans are for everyone. Good luck! I know it can be tough sometimes....

I am a little surprised but by date -- what do you mean? I'm a parent - having boys you kind of get away with a little more than girls but then again, we worry about you also. My kids have gone on outings with girls at 15. I don't know if they'd be called "dates" or not but I don't see anything wrong with it. I wouldn't sent them off to a motel or anything of course --- I mean you have to be responsible as a parent but......I tend to agree with you. I don't care for racist people - no offense to you personally.

It sounds like your parents are very protective of you, they know how bad the world is getting these days and they are afraid that something might happen. Do they have a reason not to trust you? Give them some time to loosen up, you're only 15.

Man, you should sit down and talk to your parent about how you feel about this situation. The first time when I learned my parent was like this to me, I spend a couples of time talking to them, it was a pain in the a'ss sometime because they didn't understand, because when you were young they usually have this controlling thing on you, but when you grow, you want to do these things new in life because of that reason they couldn't learn how to accept this new you, trust me, talk to them about it. As time growth they understand how you feel about being a teen and they let you have your freedom of your own well unless if you do bad things and they figure it out.

Wow you need a serious talk with your parents about this issue. They shouldn't be treating you like a little kid anymore. Is there any logical reason why they won't let you date? Is it your attitude towards girls and/or sex that makes them tell you to not start dating.

Wow, they're nuts. Im saying that, and Im 39. My parents let me date when I was 15, by the way. Nothing bad happened, I dont regret it.

I dont have any great advice. Obviously you are going to date long before what they have in mind. Try to get them to be reasonable before you give up and date behind their backs.

What ever you do, dont get any girls pregnant!

Good luck!

Damn your parents are harsh, but my parents are kind of similar (except the racist part) but it makes sense for me since I'm a girl. But still, it sucks. I guess the only thing you can do is try to respect them for the next 3 years and as soon as you turn 18 bam you're free.
