If someone landed on earth from another world and asked about the Jews what would the truth reveal about them? Do they love their neighbours as themselves? Do they keep the commandment, Thou shalt not kill? Do they keep the commandment, Thou shalt not steal? Anything I have ever heard about them has had to do with hate toward them or hate coming from them. Who gives them the authority to wage war in a world that is 90% against war? Along with the current administration in Washington they are a war driven country that uses war to advance their own causes while preaching to be the Creators chosen people. Somehow this doesn't make much sense but then neither do alot of the films that they make in Hollywood. I know that I am not anti-semetic because there is not one Jewish person that I know that I dislike but as a nation Israel is a country with a quarreling background.

America is a country that was CREATED by KILLING a ton of Native Americans either by war or disease, and has been in perhaps the MOST WARS of any nation with a 200 year history. Judge not lest ye be judged.

As for the Jews, they are pretty much just like anyone else as a group. People have more the same around the world than in different. No group of people unless the CONGREGATE FOR A SPECIFIC reason have a common theme. Sure, you can say that the Jews are all Jewish. But, you can not say that they are all stingy, although that seems to be the rule more often than not.

Israel DOES have a history of quarreling, but they have been under continuous seige for the past 2000ish years from the Islamic world. It takes two to tango, and the nation of Israel has been considerably more charitable and understanding to its opposition than its opposition has been to it.

I knew this would happen. As soon as anyone even questions the jews, simply out of curiosity, they are labeled anti-semitic, a terrorist, or called Hitler. Get a grip. They're just curious. Isn't that what Yahoo Answers is for?

Every race/culture has its extremists, whether it's jews, arabs, christians, or any other group. Some tribes in Africa still value cannibalistic rituals! What's sad though is that it's ok to question muslims, but it is not ok to question jews. This is what we hear about or see on t.v., and American t.v. is biased at best.

I agree that Israel is a war driven country, but I think many middle eastern countries are war driven simply because they have been for decades. Israel has committed more UN violations than many middle eastern countries.

From what I've read (don't quote me on this) jews fled to the middle east either in WWI or WWII because the russians were targeting them. The citizens of those areas felt as if they were being taken over, and you know how man'kind' is, they went to war. Think about it like this...as Americans, or whatever citizenship you hold, imagine if several million people from another nation fled to your country and took over a very small part of your land and things you worked for. Wouldn't you be angry? The jews have claimed rights to the land because of religious aspects, and have fought for it. They believe the land is theirs. The muslims also feel they have a right to this land for religious aspects, and have fought for it. They also believe the land is theirs.

I personally believe neither side is right, and I feel that what has gone on in the middle east is heartbreaking. I don't think it will ever be resolved because it's been going on for much too long, and both sides have lost so much and invested so much time into this. There have been so many senseless deaths of people, especially young people, who could have grown up to do something that would help the world, like cure cancer. Maybe one of them could have grown up to mend fences between jews and arabs.

Your question was really good. Always question life and the things you don't know about.

That's a really good question, and as a Jewish person, here's what I think:

1. While most Israelis are Jews, many Jews are not Israelis.

For example, I am Jew and I live in Canada. I do not support what is going on is Israel. I believe in self-defense, not cruelty. Keep in mind that millions of Jews, like me, have never even been to Israel and have nothing to do with it. Many came from Poland, Austria, or Germany, for example, and do not feel any particular ties to Israel.

2. There is a difference between the government, the military, and the people.

For example, a lot of people hate Americans. If you ask them why, they might talk about George W. Bush. But that isn't fair! Many Americans don't support George W. Bush, and after he was elected, they have much less control over what he chooses to do with the power he's been granted. The government does not always represent what the people of the country are like. As well, the military of any country, regardless of the most common religion, often kills - that's usually what the military is there for. The military acts on behalf of the government - that's its job. Yes, Jews in the military will kill people, just as Christians in the military will kill people.

3. The actions of Israel must be seen in historical context.

What I mean by this, is that Jews have had a long history of being persecuted. There hasn't been a period in history in which they weren't under vicious attack by someone. The Jewish race is used to everyone being out to get them. In cultural psychology, we have a term called "historical trauma". Think, for example, of how we might call a woman who is easily scared and slow to trust others after a brutal rape "traumatized". In the same way, when a whole culture undergoes a huge violent occurrence, it can be traumatized - and the impact of a huge group of people being traumatized will definitely start a chain of reactions. People often say, "The Jews went through the Holocaust, so why are they being so horrible in Israel? Shouldn't they know better?" without seeing that the Holocaust plays a big role in why some citizens in Israel act so defensive and violent (like caged animals!).

The problem of course, is that because Israel has been historically traumatized, it is acting out in ways that I too find very irrational and cruel. And this causes other countries - Lebanon, for example - which already have histories of trauma - to have even more new trauma! So the cycle of trauma and violence continues.

Of couse, that doesn't mean that Israel or any other country can't change the cycle. But it will take cooperation, forgiveness, compromise, and plenty of other things that few countries in that area are used to dealing with. So it's hard, although I do think it can be done.

4. Having religious beliefs doesn't make you any less likely to screw up.

Yes, some Jews are hypocritical, just like any other religion. Islam, for example, is actually a very peaceful religion, but we hear a lot about terrorists who call Islam their faith. Christianity is also peaceful, yet it has a bloody history of attacks on Native and aboriginal people. The fact is, although religion is supposed to prevent bad things from happening, it can't make human beings perfect. Humans will still get greedy, cruel, power-hungry, or simply make horrible mistakes. I'm not saying religion has no purpose, but it can't control everything.

5. About the Jesus thing...

Jesus was killed by Roman authorities. If all the Jews tried to kill Jesus, why does the Bible describe how he was welcomed everywhere and loved by those who met him (who would have been Jewish)? What's more, saying that Jews killed Jesus is like saying that Christians gave birth to Hitler - it's making it sound like all Jews, all over the world, did what is actually the task of a few people - and that they did it because they were that religion. It just doesn't make sense.

So my final answer is:

6. Some Jews show love for others. Some Jews do not. Just like any other group or faith. What's more, most Jews, like most people, show love to some people but not others.

Here's something important - in Canada, some of our media tends to be anti-American. Not all, but some. And most of what we hear about the US has to do with other countries hating it, or the US hating other countries.

What conclusions should we Canadians come to about who you are as a person?

Let's start with the idea of the Jews killing Jesus. First of all, Jesus was sent to earth by God to be persecuted to save all people from their sins.

Secondly God knew what he was doing. He needed to make Jesus a human so maybe he chose to make him a Jew because they are strong of character.

I am not a Jew but Jewish people are people just like you and me. They have the same feelings, they bleed when they are injured and they love just like anyone else. They have strong family beliefs, good work ethics and from what I see, a lot of them have great senses of humor. They are smart and ambitious, what's wrong with that, should they be stupid, lazy pot smoking losers?

The only hate I hear is what is always being thrown at them.

As for being war driven, why are you picking just on them? Look around the world. What causes war anyplace in the world, is either greed, or trying to instill one person's beliefs on another.

Why can't everyone just live and let live? Stop trying to make people into what you want them to be. Stop trying to make people believe what you believe. What's it to you if a person believes in Jesus, Alla, God, Buddha or whatever they want to call the ultimate being?

Let people live their own lives and get on with your own and you will find the world will be a much nicer more peaceful place to be.

I don't mean you in particular, I mean you to anyone who reads this.

It depends on the person. Not all Christians are good people, just not all jews, Buddahists, hindu are good poeple. As much as people would like to think that their culture/religion makes them perfect the educated person knows that perfection of a cultures is impossible. There will always be bad apples so to speak and that is why stereotyping is not wise.

As far as the War question, maybe that is a question that should be asked of Bush? The bible states that if someone hits you to turn the other cheek. If you beleive that, then we know that Bush did not turn the other cheek, instead he played like a magician and point the worlds attention on Iraq, instead of staying the course on Osama Bin Ladin in Afganastan.

It sounds like you have a lot of issues with hate, better resolve it before it eats you up. Hate is one of the 3 poisons. Everyone thinks Jewish people hate, it is the biggest challenge for a Jewish person to not hate someone who hates you. Stop visiting Al Jazeera, Stormfront, and Farrakhan-type racist propaganda sites and open your mind. Jewish people do not hate. What gives Israel the right to wage war is when its journalists are kidnapped and its people are constantly MURDERED by suicide bombers. I am sorry if you think that the life of a Jew is less than the life of a Lebanese.

Oh really. And Israel attacked the Arab nations when it was first created, kidnapped 2 Lebanese soldiers, and is conducting acts of terrorism against Lebanon is it? Give me a break the Arab nations haven't given Israel a chance for peace since it was created. Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria are the countries "with a quarreling background" not Israel.

If it went to a world wide vote or opinion poll I don't think they'd come out well -

It disturbs me tough that if you even question Jews they call you Hitler etc. I will say this about them never before have I heard of a people more able to polarize opinion.

Have you ever heard somone who hadn't really heard of them or wasn't sure one way or the other? I haven't they are either hated or revered no in between at all. Hmmm

So in answer to your question I guess it depends a lot on where these aliens landed doesn't it?

In all reality , the Jewish people were not responsible for the death of Christ, the Romans were, today we refer to them as Italians. You are too busy generalizing people, to even realize there is good and bad in every nationality.Culturally speaking the Jewish people are to be commended, they embrace their history, they tend to keep their families close emotionally. You look down your nose because they are not demonstrative. Re read your Tarah or first five books of the Bible. Then move on to the Pentateuch or Antioch books of the Scriptures. Before you make any statement about any given race of people Know from where you speak.

Christ (or someone we associate with the name) was killed nearly 2000 years ago and it constantly amazes me that people worry so much about it when we were attacked by the same kind of religious extremists on 9-11.
I have known a lot of Jewish people too and not ONCE did any of them push their beliefs on me the way christians try to ram it down everyones throat.
