All rain water has silt in it.

the moisture in clouds is very small, it needs something to form around to make drops large enough to fall down. Each rain drop is formed around a speck of dust. (Acid rain forms when water vapor forms around SO2 dust. SO2 + H20 makes H2SO4, or sulfuric acid) Most of the silt in glaciers is the dust from the nucleus of a rain drop or snowflake.
