I am a seasoned player capable of up to 10 step difficulty songs just now entering the challenging realm of Expert 11 through 13 on In The Groove and In The Groove 2. Most difficult song I can pass is The Legend of MAX by ZZ (DDR Extreme [8th Mix]), and I have AA 9 level songs and AAA 7 level songs. My favorite song is Look to the Sky: True Color Mix for the DDR series and Destiny for the ITG series.
