if you dont have cable, definitely get that!!! if you do and you want to browse faster..i suggest using firefox, then also downloading the ext..fasterfox...this will do two things..1 faster browsing as mentioned. 2. safer browsing....last but not least download a program called CCleaner...it cleans unneccassary "crap" from your computer, programs you deleted files you deleted, etc...also cleans your cache on your browser....these few tweeks will definitely help

1. Defrag - Start --> programs --> accessories --> system tools --> system defrag
2. Disk Cleanup. Right click on my computer, choose explore. right click on hard drive (c:) and choose properties and then disk cleanup.
3. Run full system scan on antivirus. If you don't have one I hear good things from AVG.
4. Run full spyware scan. Spybot S&D works good. Windows Defender works ok.
5. Start --> Run --> msconfig Then choose startup and remove as many startup programs as possible that you don't need. These programs pre-cache memory and virtual memory, wasting space and time. Many of these you don't really need anyways.
This should be a good starting place to recovering some lost speed.
AVG, Spybot and Defender can be found at the link below. Good luck.
