Without more information it will be hard to help. The problem with computers is... well, they try to make sure the file can not be removed by creating several copies so if one gets messed up or whatever. Like, if you create a new word document. It like in 3 or 4 different places. Wow... Anyways, if you are using Google Talk. It's on their computers under your account in chat histories. MSN doesn't auto check track. You can tell it too... they are on your computer. Go to options and then find the tab that says where the files are kept. Same thing goes for most of the other IM applications. Hoped I helped!

never thought about it.but i see what you mean,yahoo keeps a history.
ok go to view,then recent messages,then scroll up to view full archive click on it.
then right click on the left where it has a folder named message.delete it.
hope this helps

Well...For Yahoo Messenger
Click messenger,
Preferences,
Archive, click--> No, do not save my messages.
Then click....clear messages and they will not save anymore.

Try uninstalling the program that you use for your IMing and then reinstall it that should work.
