It's a "real" song. It's called "We All Die Young" and it's on the Rockstar soundtrack. It's performed by Steel Dragon which is made up of Jeff Pilson of Dokken on Bass, Zakk Wylde of Ozzy and BLS on guitar, Jason Bonham (of Bonham - son of John Bonham) on drums and Mike Matijevic of Steelheart providing the vocal track.

WOW good question, I am pretty sure it is called We All Die Young and is on the soundtrack. BTW, the guy auditioning right before him is the lead singer of a real tribute band here in CA called Metal Skool.
