Makes me think of how nature can be powerful and scary and beautiful all at the same time.
To lay and feel and listen to the power of a storm makes me think that we're not bigger than nature. We're a part of it.
Thunder makes me think of vibrational power. When i'm lying down and it rumbles you can literally feel the power of it as it vibrates your body.

Lightening makes me think of creation. The flash of light that is both brilliant and terrifying. The light of creation. When I lay there and I see the flash of lightening through my eyelids it just seems like the light of life: powerful, beautiful. Hard to describe.
Not sure this makes any sense but there is something mystical about thunderstorms. I only wish I could climb a tree and experience one firsthand. Yea, I love thunderstorms. :))

Time off work to relax or catch up on other personal things. I used to work in a very weather related industry (paving) and I was on salary so when we were rained out I got paid regardless. I'm not in that work anymore but it still brings on that feeling. It also makes me want to go out and observe the awesome storms as they develop. I love the excitement of driving in a storm of any kind...rain, snow, ice....it's all very invigorating. There are also times when it makes me feel like just staying in where it's warm and safe. Living in Kansas can bring alot of exciting weather. I photographed a tornado as it formed right above my house and moved away, snapping a picture every few minutes. It was a minor tornado, F-1, but it did do alittle damage when it was about a mile away and then just dissipated. Another time I went out to look at lightning and ended up very close to a devastating tornado that I couldn't see because it had turned dark by then. That was the same day of the tornado in Moore, Ok. but I was in Wichita and found out later about 1 mile from the tornado that ripped through Haysville, Ks. a suburb of Wichita. It moved on into Wichita and did considerable damage. I learned that chasing tornadoes in the dark is pretty stupid. But I didn't start out to watch tornadoes, just lightning.

Rain.

I love the rain. It's calming and sexy and wonderful. The sound of it just puts me to sleep, and I love being outside in thunderstorms, when the lightening is taking out the powerlines, and the wind is bending the trees all the way over.

It just makes me feel powerful, when usually I have no power. Its great, the rain.

sitting outside under a garage port (a garage that only has a roof - no walls) reading Sherlock Holmes or horror stories while the thunder and lightning add to the suspense of the story.

Thunder and lengthening makes me think of the power of God whom is the creator of everything.

Many people say that thunder and ligthening shows that God is angry. This isn't true.
