Maybe you think the "joke" funny, but you might want to realize that it's actually reality.

The penalty in the match versus Australia was deserved. I mean, okay, I'm against the idea of penalty kicks in a match in the first place, but Neill was partly responsible for the incident. Why was he lying on the ground, making no attempt to get back to his feet and out of Grosso's way, and, according to some reports, even sticking out his arm? If he didn't make himself look like he was committing a foul, the referee wouldn't have awarded the penalty to the Italians. Besides, Materazzi didn't deserve the red card during the match, since the Australian was, in fact, simulating.

Italy did deserve the win the World Cup, because they clearly progressed through the preliminary and first stages in the tournament, other than the match versus the USA (which was only because of an own goal), and won all of their matches in the second stage. The results are fixed, and the power to make decisions was already given to the referee.

Ah Touzours...such a bone of contention is that penalty with just seconds remaining. We Australians were disappointed at the elimination due to the final seconds and the fact that the call by the referee could have gone either way. Personally, and it is just my opinion, I don't feel it was warranted, however our hearts were crushed for our boys and what they must have felt and been going through, knowing the difficulties they endured to get where they are now, not so much the result. Though I would like to have seen them advance, it was not to be this time around. We have accepted this although the disappointment remains.

UUmmm Touzours...I do not know if you are Australian or not...does not matter to me, but it seems a common assumption here on YA...lol

basically people who understand approximately soccer comprehend that the penalty kick grew to become into legittimate (obstruction interior the penalty container is offered with penalty kick). Then, incompentent proceed to talk approximately something with none good judgment... If ppl understand soccer they might desire to confess that even not user-friendly Australia performed a stable interest, they have been on no account risky and Italy had greater opportunities on scoring targets. in case you extremely watched the interest without being biased, you may desire to have observed that Viduka might desire to have been substituted as quickly because of the fact the (illegitimate) pink card grew to become into given to Materazzi. Hiddink continued to play with 5 midfielder (against 3 of Italy) that had greater appropriate possession of the ball, yet they have been too sluggish and not helpful on penetrate the Italian protection, because of the fact the only striker (Viduka) grew to become into completely controlled by using Cannavaro. Hiddink might desire to have replace Viduka and allowed even yet another striker to be on the sector. So, why blame on others their own blunders??? time beyond regulation? In soccer does not exists "if" or "nut", yet what counts is the effect on the sector. And the interest ended a million - 0.

Thank you. At last some common sense. I agree totally. Italy were absolute rubbish. And they should be stripped of the title by FIFA for cheating. "Simulation" is supposed to be harshly dealt with - well?? Come on FIFA. What are you doing about it? I have never seen a team dive and feign injury as much as this Italian team in my life. It is disgusting and a terrible example for the kids.

What cup? Do you mean soccer? Sorry, that sport is way to boring for most Americans to like. I mean you have grown men running up and down a field, wearing colorful clothing, kicking a ball for two hours until someone finally wins by they score of 1 to zero. Sorry, not our thing.

Must have been the only bad call in the world cup.......oh wait, there were tons of them. Let's just ignore all the great plays they had and concentrate on one missed call. that makes sense.... they played great, and deserved to win. can't go back to one of the worst teams they beat and point out one call that wouldn't have even decided the game, and say they didn't deserve it. well, an intelligent fan couldn't.

ZIDANE IS THE REAL WINNER
everybody knows it....
it sucks to win the world cup with a tie anyway
which is what italy did...they have to compensate their lack of skills with their dirty play, ie, against the US and of course Zidane
