Should, because a lot of parents never tell their kids anything. They will never learn what's going on and how their bodies work unless they learn it in school.

I'm sure there would be a lot less sex if schools didn't teach it. Schooling is supposed to make kids curious, so of course when they are taught about sex they are going to be curious and try. And because of that education they are going to know what goes where when you have sex. I mean come on, when you were a kid did you really wonder about sex? You didn't start wondering about sex until you either started getting educated by the schools or some older guy seduced you.
They should ban sex education!

Schools should not teach sex education because there are too many different approaches, and a state-mandated one cannot include the various morals parents want to instill in their children. I support schooling children about sexual differences as part of Health instruction but not Sex Education in terms of sex and values.... or lack-thereof as is the case in my state.

I think that question is hard to answer, which is why the class requires a parent/guardian permission form. I believe that it's a parent's place to discuss sex with their children, but realistically, many do not. By having the option of the class, at least kids learn fact from myth, along with the importance of safe sex and std's, etc. I think it's good to have as a secondary source, but parents should really keep their kids out of the dark, when it comes to sex.

I think it should with permission from a parent whether or not their child can attend. I had no problem discussing sex with my son. He always knew he could get the truth from me. The main objection I had was the teaching of alternative lifestyles. With Christianity being our faith I did not want him being taught that homosexuality was just another option nor experimental sex acceptable. Personally I think sex education should limit itself to the bodily functions only. Middle school minds are easily confused and swayed. All they need are the basics of the body. Not who to do it with. m

Should not. Whats wrong with the old fashion way of asking parents about sex. It worked for thousands of years and seems to have been the best when compared to the amount of young teenage girls having babies these days.

Schools should encourage students to ask parents about sex and parents should be encouraged to give good sound answers and set boundaries and limits.

Schools should teach sex ed because most parents are too uncomfortable to provide their kids with solid information.

Schools SHOULD, because too many parents WON'T!
Kids need to learn the FACTS, and sadly, many parents don't know them or are uncomfortable talking about sex. School gives the facts, in a non-judgemental and largely un-embarrassed manner, and kids will pay attention.
I think it would be better to do boys & girls SEPARATELY, though.

Not ! That is the responsibility of a parent, and only a parent.
Only we know how much our own children can handle at a time.
Not to mention the fact that it gives some kids ideas that they had never thought of before.
Why can't children just be children anymore, and leave subjects that personal to us parents?
