he's a red crab, a red cartoon crab!!

Hmm I think he is just a regular cartoon crab. I don't think his cartoon character is actually based on a specific type of crab. He's just a red crab, that's all the kids need to know, not what kind he is.

Yeah I think he's an exaggerated hermit crab. He's got a shell on but usually we wouldn't think of that because he's like pink and and the shell is red. Normally you wouldn't see a shell that was all one color like that. Oh yeah, hermit crabs have tiny eyes, and are not that good at singing. So yeah I think you're right.
