Depends on what you're cleaning. Generally, a non-pourous surface can be cleaned very well with a mild solution of dish soap and warm water.
This is a lot easier on your skin, your lungs (bleach can causd lung damage) and the environment.
Scummy, greasy stuff comes off with white vinegar.
I also use Comet Scratch Free in the bathroom, which won't scratch surfaces and takes off soap scum. This does contain some bleach.

Try ammonia cleans just like bleach. Be careful on how much you use (it only takes a little bit) and don't mix it with other solutions because the outcome could be deadly. Want fragrance try Fabuloso (looks purple and smells of lilacs) or Pine Sol which now comes in a variety of scents.

Bleach will only work like bleach, try diluting it. It depends on what you are using it for, but I use a lot of water softener to make things come clean. You can use it in your laundry, to wash dishes, etc....I even put some in my shampoo to make it work better. But only bleach, bleaches.. .. .Good Luck

I like Biz activated bleach alternative. It comes in a powder and liquid form, it is inexpensive, doesn't turn whites yellow or dingy over time, can be used on colors and really takes stains out.

vinegar works on kitchen stove, floors, fridge, windows. Baking soda as a cleanser that wont harm shiny surfaces. bleach is hard on surfaces and hard on your skin and terrible for your nasal passages.
