Just wondering what you think about the profession as a whole because if you are good an individual may go far. Also would you think that a contingency basis fee requirement would change the system?

I think that lawyers are a necessary evil, so I guess that they are a combination of "the life blood" and "tics." Lawyers are a varied bunch. Many are very good-hearted people and fight for the poor, indigent, and unfortunate. These lawyers do not make much money, though, so the public doesn't hear about them as much (these lawyers are paid through charitable contributions so the clients don't have to pay). But, without these people, the rights of those without power would be walked over. The other group of lawyers include the high-powered lawyers who take advantage of the sick and injured (torts lawyers) or fight for less than nobel causes (ie- mostly corporate lawyers). These people are the reason why lawyers are classified as "tics" or "bottom-dwellers."

As far as the contingency fee, most torts lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, so I don't think that it would help any.
