No matter what the exercise videos say, you can't "spot-reduce." However doing exercises for abs and upper thighs can tone the muscles and make them pull in, and you *look* thinner. A healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and wholegrains, and exercise such as walking or swimming, does wonders. A quick tip to tone up your legs and waist is to take the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator, every chance you get.

Ok, contrary to popular belief, spot reduction doesn't work (i.e. doing crunches won't help). There are really only two ways: one is to consume less calories than you burn, and the other is liposuction :P. The choice is yours. EDIT: people, please don't repeat the nonsense that doing crunches, situps, whathaveyou will remove fat. It's a lie. Look up spot reduction if you want proof.

Sit-ups for your stomach, also cut down on food. Don't eat after 8pm, it lays heavy on your stomach. Eat lots of fruit and veg.

There is no such thing as reduction in just one place. When you lose fat you are not losing fat in just one area. The fat cells are actually just getting smaller all over you body.
